The ocean, the laid-back atmosphere and the sense of calm

For as long as we can remember, Narrawallee has been a place our family has returned to time and time again. Some of our favourite memories have been made here — early morning walks on the beach, long summer afternoons, family dinners that stretched late into the evening, and the simple joy of spending time together away from the rush of everyday life.

When the opportunity came to purchase this property in 2019, it felt like a chance to become part of a place that had already given our family so much.

In 2022, we began what became a complete knockdown and rebuild. It was a much bigger project than we first imagined. The steeply sloping block presented plenty of challenges, and there were moments when the easier option would have been to compromise. Instead, we chose to take the time to get it right.

Every part of the home was carefully considered — not just how it would look, but how it would feel. We wanted a home that captured the beauty of its surroundings, welcomed large families and groups with ease, and encouraged people to slow down and spend quality time together.

What stands here today is the result of years of planning, problem-solving and a genuine love for this part of the South Coast. While the house itself is something we're incredibly proud of, it's really the location that makes it special. There is something about Narrawallee that keeps pulling people back — the beach, the ocean, the laid-back atmosphere and the sense of calm that seems to settle over you the moment you arrive.

Our hope is that when guests stay at Surfers Rest, they don't just enjoy a beautiful home. We hope they experience the same connection to this place that our family has felt for many years, and leave with memories that will bring them back again someday.

With love,

the Pulbrooks.
